Darboukas are known by many names. You've probably heard Doumbek or Tabla most commonly. Besides being fun to make these drums have a great sound and are near impossible to put down once you start playing them. The Darboukas that I make vary greatly in sound from lower richer sounds to higher more percussive sounds. The size of the drum is probably the most prominent factor in the sound of the drum. After that come many factors including shape, skin type and glaze. I'm always experimenting to get new sounds and will post new photo's when I can. Enjoy. |
